How to Get to Òran na Mara – your luxury holiday accommodation on the Isle of Harris

Overlooking the spectacular Scarista beach and with the iconic Chapaival peninsula as the backdrop, Òran na Mara is easily accessed via the A859 and is 15 miles south from Tarbert, Harris.  Coming by air, sea or land, use the postcode HS3 3HX when planning your route and you’ll arrive ready to explore.

For those that chose to come by ferry, the islands are served by Caledonian MacBrayne, please go to Calmac for routes, timetables and pricing. If you wish to arrive by air please go to Logan Air for information on flights into Stornoway. There are direct flights from Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and car hire options at the airport.

Whether you visit in the summer and spend your days exploring the beauty of the landscape, or you’re snuggling up to enjoy Hygge on Harris, your holiday means a lot to us.

Are there facilities for children?

Yes, we have a travel cot with bedding, a highchair and a set of children’s crockery and cutlery.  You’ll find a stock of games and toys and the beaches of Harris are a paradise for little ones!

Can I bring dogs?

We are happy to accept one or two small well-behaved dogs at Òran na Mara, although they are not allowed in bedrooms or on furnishings and must remain in the utility room or your own cage at night.

Do you have Wi-Fi?

We have unlimited superfast BT Broadband Wi-Fi throughout the house, ready for you to use when you’re not out exploring. Don’t forget that you can make calls on your mobile through the Wi-Fi facility.

Is there a phone signal?

It depends on your network or the ones you can roam onto.  EE now has 4G coverage in our area and over much of Harris, and you can get signal by the gate on Vodafone. You can use wifi calling in the house.  We also have a complimentary landline you are welcome to use.

What clothing shall I bring?

Bring warm clothes, layers, boots and waterproofs for the great outdoors! The summer sun can be strong, so sun cream is a must. To make the most of the beaches you may want to bring wet suits and bathing gear.

What about food & drink?

Harris has some excellent grocery shops and a number of restaurants and cafés.  You can even have meals delivered to the house or cooked there for you!  Wine, spirits and seafood are all in good supply and Òran na Mara has two fridges and two freezers to keep things fresh.

Can I charge my electric car?

Yes, Òran na Mara has an Easee electric vehicle charger.  It is untethered so please bring your own cable.  It is an 11kw AC charger.  Please select this option when you book and we will release the charger for your unlimited use during your stay.

How many people can sleep in Oran Na Mara?

Òran na Mara sleeps 6 plus a infant in a cot in three luxurious bedrooms, each with their own view and theme. We  can configure two of the rooms with superking or twin beds as you require.. 

Can we have visitors?

Òran na Mara has a no party policy, however we  understand that you may have friends or family staying in other accommodation nearby so we do allow guests to have up to 4 visitors.
